Jake Hicks
Jake Hicks
Hicks was a right handed pitcher and middle infielder out of the Torrance area, playing multiple years under owner/operator Mason Morioka. Hicks was a member of the first ever Wrecking Crew team under Morioka, he also received lessons for over two years from Morioka before joining the Wrecking Crew.
During his High School career, Hicks was a two year starting pitcher for West Torrance High School under coach Juan Cueva. Hicks was named to the 2021 17u WWBA West National Championship All Tournament Team. After high school, Hicks would return to the Wrecking Yard to continue his coaching career under Morioka.
Hicks started giving individual lessons while still in high school at the age of 16, he is currently the pitching coach for West Torrance High School’s junior varsity baseball team. Hicks also assists on our 11u and 12u travel teams while offering hitting, fielding, and pitching lessons. Morioka has been grooming Hicks as a coach since he was a kid and we are excited to watch him grow and develop over the years to come.
Hicks has a charismatic and fun personality, he connects with the kids in a way very few coaches can. The future is certainly bright for Jake and we are grateful to be a part of it!
