Charles Boyden

Born in Oklahoma, grew up in Texas and Colorado before moving to California and attending Leuzinger High School in Lawndale. At Leuzinger, Charles lettered in varsity baseball all four years as a pitcher, shortstop, and outfielder. Under head coach Joel Romero, Charles was an All-Ocean League First Team selection his junior and senior seasons, as well as Second Team All-Area selection his senior season and led the Olympians to their first playoff birth in over five years. Following his high school career Charles played at El Camino College under Nic Van Lue and Greg Bergeron (both very prominent college coaches) as a starting pitcher and also came out of the bullpen. After his playing career came to an end due to injury, he immediately began giving back to the game by becoming an Assistant/Pitching coach at his alma mater (Leuzinger High). Throughout his playing career Charles was also a little league umpire and after coaching five years at the high school level he then became a CIF Umpire where he was able to learn even more about the game, from a different perspective. Charles now heads our 10U & 11U travel baseball teams and offers lessons at Wrecking Yard for pitching, hitting, and fielding.
