Mason Morioka

Mason Morioka

Mason grew up in the South Bay area attending West High where he was a 4 year varsity letterman under Coach Juan Cueva. During his 4 years at West, Mason was a 3 time 1st Team All-League, 3 time 1st Team All-CIF and was named as a team MVP in his junior year. Following his career at West, he earned a 4 year scholarship to the University of San Francisco under Coach Nino Giarratano (3x collegiate Team USA hitting coach). During his junior year at USF, he was an integral part of bringing home the university’s 2nd conference championship in school history. Upon earning his bachelor’s degree in Exercise and Sports Science, Mason continued his playing career for various Independent Professional teams such as the Wichita Wingnuts, Sonoma Stompers, Joplin Blasters, Rockford Aviators, among others. During his first year of professional baseball, he dealt with a setback; having Tommy John surgery. Although it caused him to lose a year of playing, it also opened his eyes to the injury prevention and maintenance of arm care. Thanks to his background in Sports Science, along with dedicated physical therapists, he was able to come back with better mechanics and throw more efficiently. During his last year of professional baseball playing for the Sonoma Stompers, he played with some of the first females to play in professional baseball; Stacy Piagno, Kelsey Whitmore and Anna Kimbrel. In that same season, he was named Defensive Player of the Year in the league and brought Sonoma the first championship in its franchise’s history.
